Why SAP KW Viewer (SAPShow.exe) doesn't display notes on Windows XP SP2 and Windows 2003 Server? The Solution

When SAP KW Viewer registry entries are damaged, you can see that some functionality is missing. For example: When you activate "Display notes" then the message "The page cannot be displayed" is shown.

What you should do in order to repair it:

  1. Run command prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd)
  2. Go to the folder where you save the sapshow.exe that is used to open the .kep files, and run in the command prompt run "sapshow.exe /register"
  3. Start Registry Editor (Start -> Run -> regedit.exe)
  4. Select the following key in the Windows registry:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ InternetExplorer\Main\FeatureControl\ FEATURE_DISABLE_MK_PROTOCOL

  5. Select "New" -> "DWORD Value"

  6. Enter the parameter of new registry entry:

    Value Name: sapshow.exe

    Value: 0x00000000
